Adolfo Domínguez

Founded in 1973 in a small tailoring workshop in Ourense, Galicia (northwest Spain) by Adolfo Domínguez Fernández, who was born in Puebla de Trives on May 14, 1950. Growing up in his parents’ tailoring workshop, Domínguez spent years developing new designs before making his breakthrough at a Madrid presentation in 1981. In 1984, he became the first Spanish designer to launch his own ready-to-wear brand. The brand’s famous slogan “Wrinkles are beautiful” (launched in the 1980s) elevated linen as a key fabric in casual collections while celebrating natural, relaxed elegance. International recognition came when Domínguez designed wardrobe pieces for Miami Vice, introducing his designs to global audiences. In 1997, Adolfo Domínguez S.A. became the first Spanish fashion brand listed on the stock exchange. Today, the brand operates 400+ branches across 20 countries (98 outside Spain) with €182 million annual revenue, maintaining its Galician roots with workshops in Galicia and northern Portugal. Long before sustainability became mainstream, Domínguez embraced organic fabrics, natural dyes, and environmentally friendly materials.
